Our Policies Beacon Swimming Club - Child Protection Policy
Beacon Swimming Club is committed to providing a caring, safe and friendly environment for all our swimmers.
Beacon Swimming Club believes that all children and young people have the right to enjoy their chosen sport, have fun, be safe and be protected from harm.
As such, the Club is committed to maintaining compliance with the ASA Child Protection Policy – Wave Power. A copy of this document is kept with the Welfare Officer should you wish to read it.
The ASA child protection procedures stem from the following principles:-
- The child’s welfare is the first consideration.
- All children regardless of age, gender, racial origin, religious belief, sexual identity and any disability have a right to enjoy sport free from all forms of abuse or sexual exploitation.
- The ASA and associated clubs have responsibilities for the welfare of children and young people who take part in our sport.
- The ASA has a responsibility to maintain confidentiality in all cases involving child protection and poor practice in line with current legislation.
- The ASA will not tolerate, within its associated clubs, poor practice in dealing with child welfare.
Beacon Swimming Club acknowledges their Duty of Care towards all children and young people and is committed to practice which protects children from harm.
Beacon Swimming Club will ensure that all children have an equal right to protection and we expect all members and adults associated with the Club to treat all children with dignity, fairness, sensitivity and respect. Discrimination, offensive or violent behaviour is not acceptable and complaints will be dealt with promptly, ensuring that all parties are treated fairly.
All staff and volunteers have been checked via the Criminals Record Bureau.
All those working within Beacon Swimming Club have a responsibility to report child protection concerns to the Child Welfare Officer. If abuse is suspected, the Child Welfare Officer will refer the matter to the Statutory and/or Voluntary Agencies concerned with child abuse, and collaborate fully with their recommendations.
Every child has a right to protection. All allegations of abuse will be taken seriously, and responded to quickly and appropriately.
