Beacon took a team of 14 swimmers to Horsham on Sunday the 4^th May, this is an open meet that anyone who swims faster than the set times can choose to swim in.

 

The team consisted of Callum Gray, Freddie Knott, Will Brown, Amy Allen, Cattie Gray, Alicia Mellett, Beckii Smith, Anna Wild, Evan Draper, Adam Fenner, Tim Wood, Harrison Keith, Hannah Shutt and Izzy Boddy.

 

As a club we competed in 58 races and achieved 23 personal best times (and that is just after the championships), we won 6 gold medals, 4 silver’s, 3 bronze, 2 fourth places, 3 fifth and 7 sixth places.

 

There was a great team spirit with a lot of encouragement for each swimmer from the rest of the team and the parents in the balconey, even towards the end of a very long day (almost 12 hours).

 

There was plenty of scope for more swimmers to have competed and the more the merrier is true, so for the next Open meet that is suitable I will be trying to get more swimmers to come.
