Over the past few weeks, swimmers from beacon swimming club have been competeing in the sussex county championships.
On the weekend of 23rd and 24th february, at the k2 centre in crawley, tim wood took 7th place in the 200m freestye, 8th place in the 200m individual medley and 5th in the 200m backstroke. he also achieved personal best times in the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke. will brown finished 1st in both the 50m and 200m breaststroke events, 4th in the 200m freestyle and 5th in the 100m individual medley; his achievements will put him into the consideration times for the south east regional competition.
harrison stevens produced a 1st in the 100m individual medley and 200m butterfly, with 3rd in the 50m breaststroke. several of harrison's times will automatically qualify him to swim in the south east regional competition.
rebbecca smith and isobel boddy both swam well in the 100m freestyle and evan draper acheived personal best times in both the 50m & 100m breaststroke races.
On the weekend of the 15th & 16th of march, in the boys 09/11 yrs 50m freestyle event, harrison stevens came 3rd in the final with a personal best time of 31.79 secs with and evan draper coming in 4th, also in a personal best of 34.39 secs. lee fenner and will brown similarly gained personal best times in the same event of 38.09 and 34.59 secs respectively.
in the boys 09/11 yrs 50m backstroke, callum grey, will brown and harrison stevens all made the final, producing personal bests times
of: 44.06, 38.65 of 37.53 secs.
gabrielle taylor came 6th in the girls 09/11yrs 50m breaststroke and hannah shutt getting a personal best , gabrielle also got a pb for 100m individual medley.
jessica goldsmith got 3rd in the 200m breaststroke and georgina wood had a great swim in the 50m freestyle getting 4th place.
harrison keith swam well in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle , also in the 50m freestyle was chris ghosh getting a new personal best time.
