Members of Beacon Swimming Club gathered at the Freedom Leisure Centre, Crowborough last Sunday and Monday to compete in 2 sessions of their Club Championships.

Sunday’s session for all age groups involved the 50m butterfly, 100m breaststroke, and 100m individual medley (IM) races.  Triple gold went to Lily Morris and Marcus Goldsmith who won all 3 events in the under 11yrs category, with Marcus also claiming new club records for the butterfly and IM races.  Not to be outdone in the boys under 15yrs age group, Thomas Wheeler claimed victory and bagged new records in all his events. Also breaking club records were Will Brown in the boys u13yrs breaststroke (1min27.68) and Andrew Ducker in the boys u17 yrs breaststroke (1min18.34).

Monday’s session included the 100m backstroke, 50m and freestyle events, with no less than 5 club records being broken.  These included Thomas Wheeler in the boys u15 backstroke, Rachael Stevens and Tim Wood in u17yrs backstroke, Marcus Goldsmith in boys u11yrs 50m freestyle and Andrew Ducker in the equivalent boys u17yrs race.
