Swimmers from Beacon Swimming Club travelled to the Victoria Swimming Centre in Portsmouth last weekend to compete in the Last Chance Regional Qualifier event , coming home with an impressive haul of personal best times and 12 medals.
The first medal was won by Lee Fenner taking silver in the boys 11yrs 50m breaststroke, in a personal best time of 42.46secs. He also gained personal best times in a further 5 events, notably in the 200m breaststoke, beating his previous time by 13 seconds!
Also in the boys 11yrs category was Will Brown, who claimed gold in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke events, silver in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke. He achieved personal best times in the 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Harrison Stevens carried on the gold rush, with wins in the boys 12yrs 100m and 200m breaststroke, slashing 12 seconds off his 200m best time. A further personal best time of 2.42.16 gained him a silver in the 200m individual medley race.
Brothers Thomas and Ryan Wheeler competed against each other in the boys 13yrs 50m butterfly, taking gold and silver respectively. Thomas went on to win gold in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle followed by silver in the 50m breaststroke.
For the girls, Torwa Smith gained two personal bests in the 12yrs 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke, with older sister Bekkii Smith achieving best-ever times in the 14yrs 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke events.
