Beacon Swimmers travelled to Cranleigh on the 25th January. Weeks of hard training paid off with a fine haul of personal best times:
Lily Morris - Girls 9 yrs 50m butterfly (50.14secs) and 4 x 25m individual medley (1min 44.34).
Charlotte Down - Girls 9yrs 50m freestyle (42.68secs) and 4 x 25m individual medley (1min 50.03)
Tim Gilbert - Boys 9yrs 50m freestyle (43.17) and 50m backstroke (51.70)
Izzy Groenon - Girls 9yrs freestyle (43.19secs) and 50m backstroke (51.77)
Maisie-Jane Hand - Girls 9yrs 50m freestyle (47.16secs)
Freddie Knott - Boys 10yrs category, achieved a PB in the 50m freestyle (41.98), along with Jospeh Wolf (43.67) and Jamie Russell (44.28) in the same event.
In the 50m backstroke Freddie and Jamie did well again in times of 48.98 and 53.78 respectively.
Lee Fenner in the boys 11yrs group kept up the PB tally – 1:17.97 in the 100m freestyle and 1:38.74 in the 100m breaststroke.
In the girls 12 yrs group, Vicky Smith gained a time of 1:19.87 in the 100m freestyle.
In the older age groups, Lee’s brother - Adam Fenner - achieved a PB in the 13yrs 100m freestyle (1:10.50) and in the 4 x 25m individual medley (1:22.13) and Rebecca Smith also doing well with times of 1:24.63 in the 14yrs I.M event and 1:34.54 in the 100m breaststroke.
In a separate event over at the K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley, Beacon Master’s swimmers took part in the annual Sussex Masters’ competition. Dayna Else took Gold in her age group for the 50m backstroke in a time of 35.64 and silver in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle events in 1:18.46 and 31.88 respectively. She also gained top 10 placing in the 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly.
