The Sussex League Team 2015

Beacon team travelled to the Sovereign Centre, Eastbourne for Round 3 of the Division 2 Sussex League. Hosted by 1066 Swimming Club, with Eastbourne & Beacon hoping to achieve winning Division 2, especially after last year’s disappointment. Expectations were high & nerves were palpable across all the age groups.

The Team Beacon rose, magnificently, to the challenge and took the Gala with a convincing win of over 100 points ahead of Eastbourne and 1066 with some of the racing being excitingly close.

Message from Beacon SC Chairman & other Committee members says it all:-

"My congratulations to all the swimmers, coaches and officials on a great victory for the Club this evening winning the Sussex League Division 2 Final by over 100 gala points against Eastbourne the second placed Club!!

This means that Beacon will be promoted to Division 1 of the Sussex League next year to compete against the best club's in Sussex - as is appropriate for one of the best clubs in Sussex.  My understanding is that before last year the Club had only once previously competed in the Sussex League in 1988 - and it is testament to the dedication of the current swimmers, coaches and officials that the Club will for the first time in its history compete in Division 1 in 2016 - the Club's 40th Anniversary year.”

"One of the Club's most memorable team performances. I also thought the spirit and behaviour of all the swimmers was impeccable and particularly the senior Club captains in accepting the presentation of the Sussex League shield from the 1066 Chair.   A great evening for all !!!”

"Fab result I'm so proud of all the swimmers they did so well especially those that have had exams to deal with and lots of time off etc ".

Chief Coach, Sharon Wheeler:-

"Well done to The Beacon swimmers who last won the Sussex league division 2 trophy. I am so proud of   you all not only by the individual performances on the night but the way you supported each other as a team. You will all be pleased to know that I have finally dried out from last night’s dunking and promise that you can push me in again when we win division 1 - how's that for an incentive!!”
