Terry Fitzgerald Memorial Meet 2015

Saturday was the 3rd Terry Fitzgerald Memorial Meet 2015 at the Somerfield Centre, Hastings. This lovely meet often attracts clubs from outside the County & this year was no exception. Teams from Surrey, Essex, Kent & Sussex made this Level 3 exciting opportunity for swimmers to race against different kids. Especially, as the host club, Hasting Seagulls SC had brand new starting machine with very fancy starting blocks which had individual light & sound starting aids. The reaction pads were, also, calibrated so the swimmers were able to see just how fast/slow there reaction times were from the starting signal – apparently this became a bit of a side competition between our swimmers.
Beacon had 17 swimmers taking part and from 53 swims achieved 32 PB’s [3 DQs]. Medallists include Jo C three 1st; Jack B 2nd; Charlotte C 1st; Kiera E 1st; Ania 1st& 2nd; McKinley L-R 3rd; Matt Mc two 2nd& 3rd; Molly Mc 2nd; Isaac S 2nd& 3rd; Jack S 2nd; Tom W 2nd & 3rd. Congratulations also to Callum B, Ben C, Robyn L-R; Jody O; Henry R-R & Oscar S who all swam well gaining PBs and top positions in their age groups.
Some of these times may have qualified for Winter County Championships, so please check against the qualifying times posted on the Club website & make you interest known to Mandi that you or your child wish to enter – it will be up to members to do this rather that the Open Meet Secretary
