Andy Holden Shield Gala

Saturday, saw Beacon SC host the Andy Holden Shield Gala at
Crowborough.
This event was aimed at swimmers who’d not achieved county times for specific strokes over 50m. The local rivalry between the competing clubs was obvious from the start with all clubs giving their respective team members vocal support & encouragement. The final score doesn't reflect the closeness of the racing especially as the two top teams were at equal points before the final few races. The final squadron relay was so exciting the roof was at risk of being taken off with the volume of noise created by the swimmers & spectators. Final scores were Beacon SC 292, Hailsham SC 286, Lewes SC 195, 1066 SC 165.
For those of you who like the stats there were 22 PB’s from 32 individual races, Beacon won 7 Relay & 16 individual races from 43 events, so it was not a completely easy victory [No DQ’s].
Well Done to everyone, swimmers, helpers & Officials. It was a fantastic evening with great swimming & lovely team spirit being demonstrated throughout the event.
