Crawley SC Kingsland Paper Trophy Gala

Saturday night saw Beacon Team swim at K2, taking part in the annual Kingsland Paper Trophy Gala. Always a fun & loud gala which gives the less experienced swimmers a chance to race similar standard competitors.
Beacon gained the lead in the first part of the evening but was joint first with the eventual winners by the halfway point. Putting a good spirited attempt through the later events was just not quite enough to hold onto that initial advantage & they came a credible 3rd at the close.
The race brought out a grand team spirit with many sore throats at the end of a very long evening.
For those who love the numbers there were a fantastic 37 individual PB's from a possible 39 swims [2DQs]. Overall there were 10 1st places, 10 second places & 13 3rd places from 61 races.
Final points were Marlins 313, East Grinstead 279, Beacon 273, Atlantis 234, Crawley 229, Dorking 203, Littlehampton 188.
A fantastic start to the season, WELL DONE everyone who swam. A magnificent beginning.
