Last Saturday night, saw our up & coming younger swimmers involved in the [Annual Invitation only] EGSC Puffin Gala. Aimed at developing and encouraging the less experienced younger swimmer in inter-club competitions, it’s often a difficult gala to pick a competitive team. Our swimmers, even with "Starting” issues [ie. misfiring of the starting pistol], came up trumps. From 32 individual swims they managed 23 PB’s [1DQ].

Final results RTW 506, EGSC 443 MSM 431, Atlantis 371, Crawley 317, Littlehampton 171, Beacon 167, TASS 138

It’s always disappointing not to be winning races or taking a trophy home at the end of the evening but Competitive Swimming is more than that; it’s learning how to cope with the nerves when racing, getting take-overs right, learning the difference between swimming & sprinting, cheering your team mates on - most important of all it's about having fun & being part of a Fantastic Team.

Well Done everyone who took part, you all swam your hardest – You are the future of the Club so keep smiling and train hard, it will make a difference.

Thank you to all the parents who helped out, I gather it was a "long” evening.
