John Carrie Memorial Trophy Gala 14 March 2015

Our Beacon Team took part in this new Sevenoaks Time-Capped Trophy Gala. These events are always very tricky for picking a successful team with swimmers in the correct age group as well having times under the capping. Our swimmers, some of whom it was their first experience of inter-club racing, put up a valiant effort; especially having to cope with an antiquated "starting pistol”.
There was 16 PB’s from 32 individual races; only 2 speeding tickets – coaches always like to see swimmers beating their predicated times even if the team gets no points from that swim. [5 Individual DQ’s; 3 relay DQ’s]
They all managed to give a good account of themselves with some very close finishes and the final result didn’t do them justice.
Final results for those interested especially as it was very hard to understand the announcer = Sevenoaks 232.5; Sutton Atlantis 180.5; Chislehurst 171, Edenbridge 143.5, Tonbridge 139.5; Beacon 132
The loud vocal support & the fab team spirit was lovely to witness, and this is as important as winning.
