Sussex League Division 2 Round 2

Saturday night saw Beacon SC host Round 2 of one the Sussex League Division galas at Crowborough. Team Beacon was, already, on a high from winning one of the Round 1 galas and this inspired another fantastic performance by the swimmers, racing against Chichester Cormorants SC & Bognor Regis SC. All teams had everything to swim for, as the winners would, probably, go to the "winner’s gala” 3rd Round which determines which Club will win promotion to Division 1 next year. Bognor had won the other Round 1 gala so no team could be complacent.
Our swimmers stepped up a gear & did the job that was required of them. They all swam extremely well, as the final scores show Beacon 466, Chichester 309, and Bognor 229. The friendly rivalry between the two clubs from the west of the County really showed in the final squadron when the noise levels were so deafening from the swimmers on poolside & the wonderful support of parents in the balcony.
The winners of the other Round 2 gala was Eastbourne SC with 467 points, [1066 SC 275 & Lewes SC 264]. So the Round 3 should see Beacon racing against Eastbourne once again. Both teams, desperately keen to gain that promotion spot, means it will be a hard fought gala on the 27th June at the Sovereign Centre, Eastbourne; with 1066 SC as the host club.
From the 76 individual events there were 23 PBs [2 DQs], there were 43 1stplaces, 26 2nd places & 10 3rd places.
Well swam everyone.
