What's NEW 2013

As a proactive swimming Club we continue to look for ways to improve what we offer to our swimmers and this year is no exception. If you have any ideas that you would like to put forward please feel free in contacting any of the committee members who would love to hear from you:-

1. Beacon Swimming Club join the Sussex Seahawks providing new opportunities for our swimmers to compete more effectively at regional and national levels and to help with development of our swimmers trying to achieve county levels.

2. Land training introduced as a new initiative, a special 6 week course by trained gym instructors at Freedom Leisure Gym, using TRX machines, medicine balls, sand bags, etc, to include movement screening

3. Investment into state of the art Timing Equipment allowing the recording of County/ Regional times for competition entry.

4. Grant received from Wealden District Council to cover a laptop and software to run our new timing equipment.

5. Suggestion and Feedback box located on balcony

6. Introduction of K2 training sessions to ensure our swimmers are familiar with a 50m pool before they compete for their times at regional / national level

7. Scholarship negotiated, on behalf of our potential national swimmer to freedom leisure facilities to ensure full fitness level.

8. Offering within our competitive membership rates up to 9 hours training per week

9. Morning swims now included in membership

10. Beacon Swimming Club is successful in their bid to put forward a team for the Young Games Makers at the Olympic Games Aquatics Centre.

11. Easter Camp, 2 day camp to work on a variety of strokes, including social evening.

12. Summer Camp, 5 day camp to work on a stroke per day plus land training

13. Cyprus trip October 2012, building on the team ethos and including 3 hours training per day.

14. Session plans to encourage swimmers to train on their own.

15. Sunday training sessions restructured for more effective training.

16. 18 swimmers swam at the County Championships with all swimmers gaining PB's and many places in finals and medals.

17. 7 swimmers swam at the Regional Championships

18. 1 swimmer went to Sheffield for the National Youth Disability Championships.

19. 2 representatives from Beacon Swimming Club to carry the Olympic torch 17th July 2012

20. Success for the Lifesaving team at the Mixed Pairs County Competition

21. On offer a host of Galas / Open Meets to challenge all our swimmers

22. BSC working towards licensing their Club Championships so the times can be put on the national database and used for County entries.

23. Published BSC Squad Criteria/ Objectives and Swimmers Undertaking to retain squad place.
